How an engagement starts

The sequence is the same for a lawyer preparing a case and for a business owner or accountant still working out what happened.

  1. 01

    Describe the situation

By email or phone: the substance of the dispute, the stage of the case (audit, pre-trial investigation, court proceedings) and the documents already collected.

  2. 02

Define the subject of the study

Together we formulate the questions the expert has to answer and the list of documents needed to answer exactly those questions.

  3. 03

    Agree on the scope

The volume of documents and the complexity of the questions determine the timeframe and the terms — both are agreed before the work begins.

  4. 04

    Examination and result

The outcome is an expert opinion, a review of an existing opinion, or a written consultation — whichever the case actually requires.

The work covers the economic side of a case — documents, accounting and calculations; procedural representation is handled by an attorney. What each area involves is set out on the services page.

Documents for examination can be handed over in an agreed way — in person or as copies; the exact list is defined once the questions have been formulated.
